Florist Assistant/ Retail Sales Assistant Required
Nipawin Florist is a very busy family-run retail shop located in Nipawin, serving North East Saskatchewan. We are seeking a responsible, customer oriented person with some prior retail shop and customer service experience. Candidate must have high energy, be positive and friendly, hard working, and committed to excellent customer service.
As a dynamic team player, you would be responsible for taking orders over the phone and assisting in-store customers with their floral needs for all occasions, processing incoming flowers and plants, gift-wrapping and preparing orders for delivery and carry-out sales. Merchandising product and general store upkeep. You should possess general computer skills as well as the ability to use cash register.
Your availability should be flexible and be able to work a variety of shifts including weekdays and Saturdays. Experience in a retail or service industry is essential.
A florist/retail sales assistant’s job description, including routine daily duties:
- Retail shop customer service, including greeting walk-in customers, taking incoming phone and wire orders.
- Participate in the receiving and processing of floral product
- Willing to work Saturdays and during busy holidays
- Must have the ability to stand for an eight-hour shift
- Some driving may be required
- Sort, organize, clean and restock supplies
- Carry floral arrangements short distances
- Communicate with staff and customers, effectively
- Efficiently move around work area, read and prepare special orders, take and recite orders by phone, etc.
- Receiving and storing the delivery of large amounts of stock
- Assisting shoppers to find the goods and products they are looking for.
- Being responsible for processing cash and card payments.
- Stocking shelves with merchandise.
- Answering queries from customers.
- Giving advice and guidance on product selection to customers.
- Keeping the store tidy and clean, this includes vacuuming and mopping.
- Responsibly dealing with customer complaints.
- Responsible for security within the store and being on the look out for shoplifters and fraudulent credit cards etc.
The personal skills that are required for the job:
- Having a friendly and engaging personality.
- Comfortable working with members of the public.
- Should have a confident manner.
- Must be helpful and polite.
- Assistants should be physically fit as they will be on their feet for most of the day and may be required to lift large amounts of stock.
- Able to work as part of a sales team.
- Should be of a smart appearance and articulate.
